Catherine Shaddix (Assistant)

Catherine Shaddix began her Buddhist practice in 1991 in Thailand, and has continued since to study and practice in the Rinzai Zen tradition and the Dzogchen lineage of Tibetan Buddhism.  She is currently engaged in a three-year cycle of intensive retreat in Nepal and the US under the direction of her teacher, Venerable Tsoknyi Rinpoche.

Catherine has also taught Buddhist meditation and Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga in the SF Bay Area since the early 2000’s.  She was given Dharma teacher authorization by Trudy Goodman and Jack Kornfield at Spirit Rock Meditation Center in the fall of 2021, and has taught with Trudy as well as at the Women’s Retreat at Spirit Rock.  She regularly assists her Ashtanga teachers Richard Freeman and Mary Taylor in the US and in Thailand and was on the contemplative faculty of the Mind and Life Summer Research Institute for seven years.  In addition, Catherine is a licensed clinical psychologist.
